Summary
PlayBack Padel has no accounts, no server of its own, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no in-app purchases. The developer does not receive your videos, your audio, your names or your scores.
Data the app uses
- Camera: captures the court and detects your hand to save plays and keep score. If you turn on Save long rallies · beta, it also measures how much the middle of the picture moves to detect a long rally. The analysis happens on the device and is never stored or sent.
- Microphone (optional): includes the match sound in your plays. When you build a highlight, the app also listens to the sound of your saved plays, on the device, to find the hits of the game; that analysis is not stored or sent.
- On-device AI (optional): on devices with Apple Intelligence, the highlight can use the on-device language model to choose plays. It only receives facts such as the time, the score and the length of each play, never the video or the audio, and it all happens on your device. You can turn it off in Settings.
- Photos, add only (optional): copies to Photos only the plays you choose.
- Apple Watch (optional): if you use the watch app, the iPhone sends it the score and team names, and the watch sends commands (add a point, undo, save a play, VAR). It travels directly between your iPhone and your watch, with no internet and no server.
- Local network (optional): connects two nearby devices to show the score.
Storage
Videos, player names, scores, match history and its plays are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. You can delete plays, matches or the app at any time. Deleting a play also removes its score; copies in Photos are kept.
Shared score
If you turn on Share score nearby, your device sends only the player names and the score to another nearby device that uses the same match code. The connection is direct between devices over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, with no internet and no server; messages are encrypted and signed. No video or audio is sent.
Sharing
A video only leaves the device if you choose to share it or copy it to Photos.
Children
The app does not collect personal data from any user, including children.
Permissions
You can change the Camera, Microphone, Photos and Local Network permissions in iOS Settings.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, it will be updated here with a new date. For questions, open an issue on GitHub, without including personal data.
